Breathing Underwater

The new Ghostlight single 'Breathing Underwater' (released 17th August) has all the elements of a great indie romance soundtrack and fans of Snowpatrol, Keane and Coldplay will love the underplayed intensity. 

Lead singer Al White uses the catch-inflection in his voice to great effect, to convey the raw emotion behind the prettier harmonies.

The lyrics of 'Breathing Underwater' explore the fragility of a relationship in its dying days but the introduction of a horn section on the chorus moves the track away from the maudlin. 

Ghostlight have already supported Sparklehorse and topped the online charts, it now remains to be seen if they can carve out a niche in the crowded 'indie-emo' genre - certainly this single won't harm their chances of crossover success.
