Shine On

'Shine On' is an ode to the joys of rock and roll. Yet the band's self-confidence ("I am the Messiah, and the King of Kings") sits uneasily with their unadventurous style. Within the first few seconds, you know exactly where this is going, down to the chord progressions. There is the hint of something more interesting lyrically (the dismissal of an imagined fan as "a stupid little girl") but this remains undeveloped. Ultimately, despite demonstrating some competent musicianship, the Tunics fail to offer enough to reward repeated listening.
